Assistant Manager - ESG & Liaison

Job Summary
The Assistant Manager (AM) will work closely with the Head of Department (HOD) in order to provide support, solutions and results to achieve the sustainability/ESG goals & Approvals for the Project.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible in assisting the HOD to fulfil the department’s goals and objectives.
• Assist the HOD in managing sustainability compliance according to existing laws and regulations as well as the Project’s Environmental Impact Assessment Approval Conditions and the Hydropower Sustainability Standard (HSS).
• Assist the HOD in monitoring, evaluating and reporting the sustainability performance of the project in order to support the continuous improvement of the Project performance, systems and practices.
• Assist the HOD in coordinating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability measures are well integrated and practiced, especially in focus areas related to environment, wildlife, wildlife corridor and riparian reserves, communities, resource management and carbon mitigation.
• Assist the HOD in liaising with government agencies and stakeholders for various issues related to the Project to ensure smooth project implementation.
• Assist the HOD in coordinating and compiling documents and other required presentation materials related to sustainability for further action.
• Understand the requirements related to the Project and to effectively troubleshoot as well as resolve ad-hoc issues.
• Plan works according to the Departmental milestones and deliverables.
• Maintain records of all issues and document them properly.
• Inventorise records and continuously update documents, prepare reports and feedbacks.
•To comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment related to the job scope and work place as required by the Company.
• Any other duties that will be assigned from time to time by the Management.
Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental engineering, environmental science, civil engineering and/or similar technical qualifications.
• Has minimum five (5) years experience in construction projects, preferably in infrastructure and/or related roles.
• Preference for candidates who are born and/or currently residing in Sabah.
• Preference for candidates with experience in other technical softwares.
• Preference for candidates experienced in construction projects within or near to forests.
Skills & Abilities
• Able to manage sustainability and/or environmental implementation, monitoring, auditing and reporting.
• Able to manage incident investigations and reporting.
• Able to manage authority approvals and stakeholders.
• Able to converse and communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Able and experienced in letter, report and procedural writing.
• Able to use Microsoft Office proficiently.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices.
• Strong understanding of industry-specific regulations, policies, and protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills in managing stakeholders/public.
• Professional, trustworthy, discrete, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with high level of attention to detail, accuracy and quality, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
