About the role
Gamuda Engineering is seeking an experienced and dynamic Workforce Development Manager to lead and deliver our workforce development and training strategy across corporate and project operations on a 12 month fix term contract. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, you will play a pivotal role in building capability, driving compliance, and ensuring workforce initiatives align with organisational, regulatory, and contractual requirements. You will oversee the Training function, collaborate with internal leaders, project teams, and external stakeholders, and shape programs, workforce plans, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
This hands-on, collaborative role is perfect for someone passionate about developing people, strengthening capability, and delivering positive workforce outcomes across large-scale infrastructure projects.
Specific activities will include:
- Managing company-wide and project-based training plans, including identifying training needs and monitoring outcomes
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to integrate workforce planning and business continuity into daily operations
- Liaising with clients, authorities and RTOs to ensure compliance with training and workforce development requirements
- Developing and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives across the workforce and supply chain, with a focus on underrepresented groups
- Contributing to tender submissions by providing strategic advice on workforce development and industry participation
- Reporting on training progress, effectiveness and compliance to management, clients and authorities
- Designing and delivering best-practice training programs as required
- Conducting training needs analysis in consultation with managers
- Providing guidance to consultants, subcontractors and suppliers on government workforce and training obligations
- Preparing and managing annual training budgets, including project and tender-specific forecasts
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Training or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience (ideally 10+ years) in training and workforce development within the construction or infrastructure sector
- Strong knowledge of ASQA requirements and training compliance frameworks
- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders, clients and external partners
- Strong organisational, communication and reporting skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
