We have recently commenced construction on a significant Sydney Water pipeline re-instatement project in Sydney’s northern suburbs and are tendering a range of other water infrastructure projects across the east coast.
The Role
At Gamuda, the Traffic Engineer plays a pivotal role in the end-to-end delivery of major infrastructure projects, including our current pipeline development in partnership with Sydney Water. Operating within a high-performing project team, this role serves as the critical bridge between innovative engineering design and practical, real-world construction delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop traffic plans and layouts that ensure seamless site access while minimizing public transport disruptions and project delays.
• Partner with project teams to anticipate construction phases, conduct site inspections, and secure required road permits in advance.
• Deliver comprehensive traffic solutions, including technical calculations, drawings, and engineering reports, to support major infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure all traffic engineering deliverables meet scope, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Present traffic management plans to authorities, clients, and auditors to secure project signoffs and minimize network disruptions.
• Lead impact assessments and site audits to ensure all traffic setups strictly comply with safety standards and best practices.
Your skills & experience
You will be a proactive and resilient professional who takes responsibility, shows initiative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment. Specific experience will include:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• Proven experience in traffic engineering, ideally with exposure to water, utilities, or pipeline infrastructure projects
• Strong written and verbal communication and report writing skills
• Strong understanding of NSW traffic regulations, legislation, and the application of Traffic Management Plans in a construction environment.
• The ability to engage, influence, and appropriately challenge project team members to deliver best practise and project outcomes.
• A proven track record of building strong working relationships with your team, the client, and key stakeholders.
