The Project:

The NSW Government has appointed Gamuda Engineering to deliver the Sydney Metro Station Package West, a critical component of Sydney Metro. The Sydney Metro Stations Package West includes the design and construction of five new metro stations along the Sydney Metro West alignment: Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, and The Bays. Delivered as part of the 24-kilometre Sydney Metro West line connecting Greater Parramatta to Sydney’s CBD, the package scope will include the construction of station boxes, entrances and access points, station fit-out works and integration with surrounding precincts.

The Roles:

Gamuda Engineering Australia is currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from experienced Sustainability & Environmental professionals for opportunities on the Sydney Metro Station Package West.

Gamuda will act as the Principal Contractor for the project. Laing O’Rourke and DT Infrastructure will join the delivery team, named MetroVista, as delivery partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental approvals, licences, and relevant state and federal legislation across major infrastructure construction projects.
  • Implement and manage project Environmental and Sustainability Management Plans in line with project and client requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure environmental controls are effectively implemented and maintained on site.
  • Lead environmental inspections, audits, and reporting to meet contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage environmental risks associated with large-scale civil works including erosion and sediment control, waste management, noise, dust, and water quality.
  • Coordinate environmental incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support delivery of sustainability initiatives including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, resource recovery, and sustainable procurement practices.
  • Liaise with government agencies, regulators, consultants, and project stakeholders regarding environmental compliance and approvals.
