The New South Wales (NSW) Government has appointed Gamuda Engineering, to deliver the AUD2.7 billion Sydney Metro West - Stations Package West, a vital component of the broader Sydney Metro project.
The package contract includes the design and construction of five new metro stations along the Sydney Metro West alignment: Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, and The Bays.
About the Role:
The Sustainability Analyst Lead is a data-driven role that supports the implementation of Gamuda Australia’s Sustainability Management System at the delivery of the Sydney Metro West: Station Package West project. This role leverages advanced data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and workflow automation to streamline the tracking and reporting of sustainability metrics. The Analyst will play a critical role in managing the rigorous data required for Green Star verifications and fulfilling Sydney Metro's specific project obligations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Functional lead for all Sydney Metro sustainability reporting requirements, responsible for designing and automating processes and workflows across the project
- Lead the preparation, drafting, and finalisation of sustainability reports required by Sydney Metro, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project and client standards.
- Establish early-phase data strategies and automated documentation workflows during project mobilisation to reduce manual administrative tasks.
- Utilize digital tools to assist in rapidly analysing, tracking, and interpreting complex, client-specific sustainability requirements mandated by Sydney Metro during delivery
- Engage with design consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to integrate their data feeds into a centralized sustainability tracking systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science/Analytics, Business Analyst, Finance, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- 3–5+ years’ experience in a data-focused sustainability role, or a strong background in data analytics/engineering with a keen interest to transition into the sustainability sector
- Strong technical background with the ability to build automated systems for coordinating inputs, complex data analysis, and sustainability reporting for infrastructure projects
- Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, macros, and data visualisation), VB Programming Experience
- Experience leveraging AI and automation to streamline the tracking of sustainability frameworks (e.g., energy, materials, and water use data, carbon reduction data, social procurement tracking)
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams (including Digital Engineering teams) to apply systems thinking and automated problem-solving to project delivery.
