Job Description: 

The Coffs Harbour Bypass is a 14-kilometre stretch of road that will bypass of the Coffs Harbour urban area, from England's Road in the South to Sapphire in the North and is a once-in-a-generation project for the Mid-North Coast community.

 

Ferrovial and Gamuda (FGJV) are the proud Design and Construct joint venture delivery partners of the Coffs Harbour Bypass – a significant, unique and exceptional major infrastructure project that will leave a legacy of innovation and sustainability in the region for communities of today and tomorrow.

 

FGJV is seeking a motivated Site Engineer to support the smooth delivery of day‑to‑day site operations. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Project Engineer, Site Supervisor, and subcontractors, with a strong focus on driving the project toward successful completion.

 

The role

 

  • Maintain a proactive understanding of project management plans, including all variations to the scope of works, to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Oversee quality, environmental, and safety requirements across the scope of works, supporting efficient operations and successful delivery while initiating corrective actions to address any non‑conformances.
  • Monitor and track daily construction progress and associated costs, enabling early identification of issues and implementation of corrective measures when required.
  • Arrange inspections and testing activities, maintaining accurate quality records to ensure full compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare essential project documentation, including Work Procedures, Inspection & Test Plans, Safe Work Method Statements, Construction Procedures, and Site Access Plans.
  • Ensure daily work activities comply with all permits, approvals, design drawings, specifications, and work management plans, maintaining high standards of execution.
  • Assist with procurement activities, including sourcing project materials and supporting the letting of subcontracts.
  • Support site supervisors in coordinating construction works, maintaining a consistent and visible site presence to foster effective teamwork with subcontractors.
  • Participate in pre-start and toolbox meetings to discuss site operations, environmental considerations, quality control, and health & safety culture.
  • Coordinate interface works with other teams—such as Traffic, Pavements, and Structures—to ensure seamless integration and smooth project delivery.

 

Your skills and experience

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering with a major in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
  • Proven capability in cost and production tracking, including providing informed input into work programs and assessing subcontractor performance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client‑focused mindset and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive and innovative approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and effective problem‑solving
