About the role
We are seeking a Senior IR Advisor to join our People & Culture team on the Sydney Metro – Stations Package West project. Working closely with the Project HR Lead and key operational stakeholders, you will provide expert industrial relations advice and drive the implementation of our Workplace Relations Management Plan across the project.
You will play a central role in ensuring industrial relations compliance, supporting enterprise agreement implementation, managing union engagement and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and is passionate about fostering positive workplace relations while ensuring compliance with industrial legislation and project obligations.
Specific activities will include:
- Providing practical industrial relations advice and support to leaders, supervisors and employees.
- Supporting the implementation of the project's IR strategy, labour resourcing initiatives and workplace relations management plans.
- Assisting with enterprise agreement development, negotiations and implementation.
- Managing Right of Entry processes and maintaining positive relationships with unions and key stakeholders.
- Conducting subcontractor and workplace compliance audits, including NSW Code and Fair Work compliance.
- Supporting investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters and dispute resolution.
- Developing and delivering IR training across the project.
- Monitoring legislative and industrial relations changes and providing timely advice to the business.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of IR systems, processes and policies.
Your skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in an Industrial Relations or Employee Relations Advisory role within construction, infrastructure or a similar project-based environment.
- Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, industrial legislation, enterprise agreements and the NSW Code.
- Experience engaging with unions, frontline leaders, subcontractors and regulatory bodies.
- Strong understanding of industrial compliance, auditing and workplace investigations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
