A consortium between Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke has been awarded a contract to start tunnelling on the Sydney Metro West project.

 

The Gamuda Australia Laing O’Rourke Consortium is looking for an experienced Safety Advisor to support the health and safety performance of all staff and drive an accountable and positive safety culture on site during night shift.

 

About the role

  • Conduct routine HSE inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas and engage with subcontractors to build strong working relationships. 
  • Undertake incident investigations and ensure that the cause analysis and all reported is completed. 
  • Monitor compliance with the HSE systems and processes and provide operational support to the project team. 
  • Providing project leaders, site supervisors and workers with specialist guidance and advocate for positive work health and safety change. 
  • Monitor and provide advice and training for compliance to support the effective implementation of WHS legislation, policies and procedures. 

 

Your skills and experience

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Understanding of current health and safety legislation, procedures, processes, and best practices. 
  • Proven experience working on Tier 1 projects, tunnelling or rail infrastructure experience is advantageous.

 

Construction includes the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin, metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park; excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta; earthworks, utilities and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde; a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek; and a services facility, crossover structure and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
