Job Description: 

Gamuda Engineering is a reputable Engineering and Construction contractor that specialises in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Transport, Civil and Energy Infrastructure projects.

As part of Gamuda’s commitment to expansion, Gamuda Engineering has established offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to pursue and deliver a variety of engineering and construction projects.

We have recently commenced construction on a significant Sydney Water pipeline re-instatement project in Sydney’s northern suburbs and are tendering a range of other water infrastructure projects across the east coast.

 

The Role

 

As a Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for providing safety guidance, training, and consultation to support the health and safety performance of the project. You will monitor and implement internal policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with the project Safety Management Plan and relevant WHS legislation and industry regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensuring the successful implementation of the project safety management plan .
  • Conducting routine safety inspections, monitoring and analyzing work areas, and engaging with subcontractors to build strong working relationships .
  • Contribute to the planning of site works to ensure safe constructions and the development and implementation of SWMS and other documentation.
  • Assisting with investigations of site accidents and incidents.
  • Assisting with safety audits to ensure the effective implementation of systems and processes, recording any non-conformances, and ensuring they are rectified in a timely manner .
  • Providing project leaders, site supervisors, and subcontractors with specialist guidance to advocate for positive work health and safety culture on the project.

 

Your skills & experience

 

You will be a proactive and resilient professional who takes responsibility, shows initiative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment, you will ideally hold a Cert IV in WHS or additional qualifications. Specific experience will include:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the construction or infrastructure sectors .
  • A strong understanding of current health and safety legislation, procedures, processes, and best practices .
  • Proficiency in computer technology and administration and records management systems .
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor language to suit the target audience .
  • The ability to engage, influence, and appropriately challenge project team members to deliver safety performance.
  • A proven track record of building strong working relationships with your team, the client, and key stakeholders .
