A consortium between Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke has been awarded a contract to start tunnelling on the Sydney Metro West project.

 

The Gamuda Australia Laing O’Rourke Consortium is looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to assist our Plant department with the planning, procurement and delivery of plant maintenance works across mined tunnel and TBM activities.  

 

About the role

  • Undertake cost tracking of plant section, maintenance, and operation to ensure work remains within the budget.
  • Oversee the technical specification of equipment and installation drawings.
  • Monitor and ensure project planning and related deliverables are completed within schedule and budget.
  • Assist project sites by providing technical advice and scheduling/monitoring plant repairs as required, ensuring they are completed in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Manage Plant maintenance schedules and ensure compliance.
  • Manage compliance of documentation uploaded on MEX.
  • Promote a positive culture regarding HSE, Environmental Management, Sustainability, People, Community and Quality.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience working on Tier 1 projects.
  • Experience managing direct workforce and subcontractors in the delivery of work plans and scope.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate as part of a supportive high-performing team.

 

Construction includes the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin, metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park; excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta; earthworks, utilities and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde; a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek; and a services facility, crossover structure and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
