About the Role:

The Mechanical Design Coordinator will support the coordination, management and delivery of mechanical building services design across multiple station and precinct works. You will work closely with design consultants, construction teams and specialist subcontractors to ensure mechanical systems are fully coordinated, buildable and aligned with project requirements.

This is a hands-on design coordination role within a major D&C contractor environment, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems while working closely with site delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate mechanical design deliverables across station and precinct works
  • Manage and interface with external mechanical design consultants
  • Ensure mechanical systems are fully coordinated with civil, structural, architectural and electrical disciplines
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance and constructability
  • Support HVAC, ventilation, smoke control, plant room and building services coordination
  • Assist with design workshops, coordination meetings and technical reviews
  • Support RFI responses, shop drawing reviews and design change processes
  • Work closely with construction teams to ensure design intent is achieved on site
  • Assist in resolving design clashes and multidisciplinary interface issues
  • Support commissioning and systems integration activities
  • Contribute to value engineering and design optimisation initiatives

About You

You are a proactive mechanical engineering professional who thrives in a challenging infrastructure environment. You are confident working across multiple stakeholders and enjoy being involved from design through to construction delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical design coordination
  • Experience on major infrastructure, rail, transport or large building services projects
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, ventilation and mechanical building services systems
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design packages in a contractor environment
  • Ability to review technical documentation and resolve design issues
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards and project compliance requirements
  • Experience in BIM/digital engineering environments highly regarded

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia
  • White Card (Construction Industry Induction)
  • Driver’s licence
