The Role

 

We are seeking a motivated Grid Connection Engineer to support the delivery of grid connection activities for large-scale renewable energy projects across the NEM.
Working under the guidance of senior grid engineers, you will engage in power system studies, regulatory submissions, modelling coordination and commissioning compliance activities. This role offers strong technical development exposure across solar, BESS and hybrid projects.


Key Responsibilities

 

•    Support grid connection activities from feasibility through commissioning and generator registration.
•    Assist in the preparation of Grid Connection Enquiries, managing the consultants, GPS documentation and compliance submissions.
•    Support coordination and review of power system studies and grid connection submissions.
•    Contribute to grid modelling activities using PSCAD, PSS®E and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
•    Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports and regulatory correspondence.
•    Support grid commissioning and GPS compliance activities, including hold point testing and R2 model validation and reporting.
•    Liaise with internal development, engineering and project delivery teams to support grid program planning and risk tracking.
•    Participate in meetings with AEMO, NSPs and consultants alongside senior engineers.
•    Maintain awareness of NEM requirements, NER obligations and relevant NSP processes.


Skills & Experience

 

•    Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
•    1-3 years’ experience in power systems, grid studies or renewable energy projects in the NEM.
•    Foundational understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM), NER and NSP connection requirements.
•    Hold point testing and commissioning exposure.
•    Experience with PSCAD, PSS®E and/or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
•    Strong analytical and technical report writing skills.
•    Clear communication and willingness to learn.
