A consortium between Gamuda Australia and Laing O’Rourke has been awarded a contract to start tunnelling on the Sydney Metro West project.

 

The Gamuda Australia Laing O’Rourke Consortium is looking for a skilled Accounts Assistant to support the Finance function with administrative and finance tasks on this major infrastructure project.

 

About the role

  • Perform daily accounting operations in accounts payables and receivables.
  • Support accounts payable back-office process and system improvement exercises using SAP.
  • Prepare reconciliations, journals, accruals, etc as directed by Project Accountants.
  • Support end of month closure process, ensuring timely and accurate accounts are prepared.
  • Compile taxation documentation and substantiation as required to comply with ATO requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Assist in audit preparation, including compilation of substantiation and resolution of queries as required.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and highlight improvement opportunities when identified.
  • Manage ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a relevant field will be viewed favourably.
  • Prior experience in Accounts Administration.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with the team, the client, and key stakeholders. 

 

Construction includes the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin, metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park; excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta; earthworks, utilities and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde; a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek; and a services facility, crossover structure and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
