Job Summary

Promote, monitor, enforce, advise and ensure continual safety & health implementation in compliance with legal, OSH Management System and organizational requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement and enforce comprehensive safety and health policies, procedures, regulations, and instructions tailored to project-specific and legal requirements.
  2. Maintain safe work conditions consistently throughout the project's lifecycle, continuously monitoring and addressing potential hazards.
  3. Conduct practical safety training programs, including toolbox talks and safety awareness workshops, ensuring all workers understand and comply with safety protocols.
  4. Supervise and mentor workers proactively, reducing safety and health risks during all stages of onsite activities.
  5. Lead accident and incident investigations promptly, reporting outcomes to supervisors and recommending corrective measures.
  6. Perform daily workplace safety inspections, identify unsafe acts and conditions, and coordinate immediate corrective actions to prevent incidents.
  7. Conduct hazard assessments for all controlled activities, document findings, and establish effective preventive strategies.
  8. Compile, analyze, and report safety performance data and statistics to management, facilitating informed decision-making.
  9. Oversee and ensure subcontractors adhere to all safety and health regulations and organizational standards.
  10. Monitor implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions following any safety non-compliance issues.
  11. Review and regulate issuance of Permits to Work and task statements, ensuring pre-task briefings are conducted and documented.
  12. Foster a safety-first culture by communicating clearly that safety is a shared line responsibility and motivating all personnel to engage fully in safety programs.
  13. Issue observations, nonconformance reports, or Stop Work Orders as necessary based on risk evaluations to prevent hazardous situations.
  14. Authorize temporary cessation of operations in instances of significant risk, ensuring immediate resolution of unsafe conditions.
  15. Maintain and update safety procedures and systems in response to evolving legal requirements and site-specific challenges.
  16. Regularly identify emerging safety risks and implement proactive controls to mitigate them effectively.
  17. Organize and lead regular emergency preparedness drills, ensuring all workers understand emergency protocols and response actions.
  18. Maintain first aid facilities and ensure the presence and training of qualified first aid personnel; conduct periodic reviews for continuous readiness.
  19. Collaborate closely with site and project management teams to integrate safety practices seamlessly into all operational facets.
  20. Ensure availability, proper use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including routine inspections to uphold compliance and worker safety.
  21. Champion open communication channels encouraging the reporting of unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents in a no-reprisal environment.
  22. Advocate for health and wellness initiatives, including stress management and ergonomic improvements, to support overall employee well-being.
  23. Stay current with local, national, and international safety regulations and best practices to continually enhance the company's safety performance.

Qualifications

  • Possess at least a Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. 
  • Registered Site Safety Supervisor (Valid Yellow Book Holder) with DOSH.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of local SHE legislation requirements and SHE Management System requirements. 
  • Good SHE technical knowledge. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Expected Minimum Years of Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience relevant to the works preferably in construction.
