THE ROLE

We’re seeking a motivated Site Engineer with experience in buildings and structures to join our team on a major Rail maintenance facility and stabling yards construction project based in Ormeau, Queensland.

 

You will play a key role in overseeing and managing construction activities, ensuring project milestones are met, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. You will collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Coordinate and oversee construction engineering activities to ensure project delivery aligns with time, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Effectively manage and monitor construction performance and progress.
  • Prepare progress and compliance reports.
  • Interpret designs for construction implementation and suggest improvements to existing designs.
  • Coordinate and supervise the technical aspects of the project.
  • Assist in preparing site construction budgets and reports.
  • Verify subcontractors' claims and variations.
  • Manage work programs and monitor the performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of relevant contractual obligations and legislation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction engineering practices and comply with Australian and international standards.
  • Understand the legislation and management of Temporary Works.
  • Ensure policies are communicated, and procedures are implemented.
  • Assist in the production and administration of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and other documents/processes/procedures/testing/auditing required under the project's Quality Management Plan and contract.
  • Utilise QA/QC software for lot management, and initiate, collect, verify, and validate conformance artifacts.
  • Raise and correct Non-Conformances (NCRs) within specified timeframes. - Close Requests for Information (RFIs) within designated deadlines.

ABOUT YOU

 

  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in the construction industry.
  • Evidence of project planning skills is required.
  • Demonstrated and successful experience in a business or project operations management role at a similar level.
  • Proven ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Capacity to review, develop, and streamline new processes and transactional activities.
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation of operational budgets.
  • Experience in researching and analysing complex information to develop and implement project solutions.
  • Understanding of OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) and employee relations legislation. - Experience in developing tender documentation.
  • Familiarity with project planning, organisational skills, and time management.
