About the role

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in the front-end of major infrastructure projects – reviewing contract terms, preparing tender submissions, leading negotiations, and ensuring commercial strategies are robust and compliant. You’ll set projects up for success by managing risk, advising on commercial positions, and developing cost-effective solutions from the outset.

Specific activities will include:
•    Review Head Contract requirements to identify, assess and communicate risks to the bid team, ensuring they are appropriately priced or programmed.
•    Lead negotiations and finalisation of Head Contract terms, including client presentations, departure lists, exclusions and commercial qualifications.
•    Ensure appropriate flow down of risks from the Head Contract to Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors.
•    Draft, negotiate and administer Consultant contracts during the tender phase, following corporate procedures and securing necessary approvals (including payments, variations and final accounts).
•    Develop and implement programs, procurement schedules and commercial templates to support bids.
•    Provide senior management with commercial and contractual advice through presentations, risk analyses and formal reports.
•    Collaborate with finance, legal, design, technical teams and JV partners to support bid outcomes.
•    Review and prepare financial and insurance documentation to support tender submissions.

Your skills and experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
•    7+ years’ experience in pre-contracts and commercial management, ideally on major infrastructure projects.
•    Strong knowledge of Australian construction contracts, procurement processes, and commercial law.
•    Proven ability to negotiate contract terms and manage complex procurement packages.
•    Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project finance systems, and document management systems.

Gamuda Australia encourages and supports a diverse and inclusive workforce, including those from overseas and current Visa holders. Gamuda appreciates your application, and we will endeavour to respond as soon as practicable.

Unsolicited agency CVs submitted to Gamuda will not be accepted.
