The Role
Working across our national portfolio of projects you will work closely with our Head of Legal this role offers the opportunity to work with a talented legal and commercial team to drive front-end contracting, tender processes, and successful project delivery across major infrastructure and renewable energy projects. Specific accountabilities will include:
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of complex contracts at the tender stage (D&C, EPC, ITC, ECI, Alliance, PPP, JV Agreements, and related project agreements).
• Providing commercial and strategic legal advice to senior management and project leaders along with tender and delivery teams on contract strategy, risk allocation, delays/EOTs, termination, security, retention, scope changes, and pricing mechanisms.
• Working closely with the commercial team to lead high-level negotiations for head contracts, alliance/JV arrangements, early works agreements, and key subcontractor and supplier packages
• Lead the drafting, negotiation, and settlement of downstream procurement contracts.
• Support key commercial decisions within the business, driving project success through sound legal guidance.
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of contract models, governance, and risk management practices across the business.
Your skills & experience
You will have tertiary qualifications in Law and a Practicing Certificate in NSW ideally backed with 10+ years PQE in construction and engineering law within a leading law firm or in-house with a major engineering & construction company. Your specific skills and experience will include:
• Experience working on major infrastructure projects including transport, civil and energy infrastructure including strong exposure to front-end, pre-contracts, tendering, or early-stage project development.
• Solid technical skills in contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory work on infrastructure projects.
• A commercial mindset with a demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic legal advice that balances risk management with commercial outcomes.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
