About the role
DT Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Manager - Rail to join our National Rail Team, based in Salisbury North and reporting to the EGM - Rail.
This position is responsible for providing support, guidance and leadership in the implementation, monitoring and review of DTI Health and Safety, Environment and Injury Management systems to both management and staff, and provides risk management and legal compliance expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide advice to departments and Facilities in regards to health, safety and environmental management system matters, including support on tender and bid documents.
- Assist in providing Senior Management with authoritative advice on corporate and local risks.
- Establishes and maintains positive and beneficial relationships with key external and internal customers, including regulatory bodies.
- Keep abreast of HS&E legislation, best practice and tools and leveraging these to facilitate contemporary HS&E practices.
- Ensure risks are accurately identified, contained and countermeasures are put in place.
- Plan and conduct internal HSE audits to measure suitability and effectiveness of planned arrangements across all facilities to provide advice, support and monitor safe behaviours.
- Participate in Regulator / legislative audits as required.
- Ensure team members understand organisational objectives, their part in them and are focused on development/delivery of their own relevant plans.
Experience and capabilities
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health Safety and Environment.
- Health and Safety Management Auditing qualifications.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety management systems, and providing guidance and advice to managers and staff with regard to best practice Health Safety & Environment matters.
- Rail safety management system knowledge preferred.
