About the Role

 

Joining our Rail Projects East team based out of Salisbury North, SA, you will drive the planning and operational delivery of a broad portfolio of track and civil renewals and maintenance projects. From complex corridor renewals to routine civil infrastructure maintenance, our team plays a critical role in preserving and upgrading essential rail assets across the region.

As a Track & Civil Project Engineer, you will focus on the technical, commercial, and engineering management required to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. Based in Salisbury North, you will act as the key connection between the site execution team, project leadership, client representatives, and external subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Project Planning & Delivery: Develop and monitor project schedules, scope requirements, and work methodology statements for routine maintenance and major rail occupations.
  • Commercial & Cost Control: Assist with procurement, budget forecasting, package scoping, subcontractor management, and variation tracking.
  • Technical Management: Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), resolve technical site queries, review design packages, and ensure alignment with track and civil engineering standards.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain strong working relationships with internal delivery teams, key rail client representatives, network controllers, and subcontractors.
  • Quality & Handover Management: Drive project-level quality management processes, ensuring full completion of technical documentation, as-builts, and client handovers.

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 
  • Relevant certifications in engineering or construction management are a plus (e.g., Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT)). 
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in the construction industry
  • Tier 1 / Tier 2 Background: Proven track record delivering major infrastructure projects within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 principal contractor environment
  • Rail Infrastructure Expertise: Extensive experience in the delivery of complex rail projects, with a strong understanding of rail construction methodologies and staging
  • MTM Proficiency: Demonstrated working knowledge of Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) Engineering Standards, Policies, and Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Project planning skills
  • Demonstrable and successful experience in a business/project operations management role gained at a similar level
  • Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders
