The Role:

Gamuda Engineering Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Project Accountant to support our growing portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects.

The Project Accountant will support the financial management of the Sydney Metro West Stations Package, ensuring accurate cost control, forecasting, and reporting. The role partners closely with project finance manager and commercial teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making. It is responsible for monitoring budgets, identifying risks, and maintaining financial compliance. The position operates in a fast-paced, project-based environment with strong stakeholder engagement. This role suits a detail-oriented finance professional with infrastructure or construction experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day project accounting activities including cost tracking, accruals, and journal entries
• Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to project leadership and corporate finance teams
• Monitor project costs against budget and identify variances, trends, and risks
• Support monthly reporting cycles including WIP (Work in Progress), revenue recognition, and cost reconciliation

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• CPA / CA qualification (or working towards) preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards
• Proficiency in financial management systems and Microsoft Excel

Minimum 3–6years’ experience in a project accounting or finance role. Proven experience working on construction, infrastructure, or engineering projects. Demonstrated experience in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting. Experience working in a project-based, deadline-driven environment. Exposure to large-scale government or major infrastructure projects is advantageous
