Job Summary
The role of Assistant Manager - Mechanical & Electrical is to play a pivotal part in overseeing the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineering works within our projects. This position requires meticulous attention to detail in monitoring, supervising, inspecting, and coordinating various M&E activities to ensure seamless integration with the civil and structural works, architectural requirements, and client expectations. You will actively liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to address and resolve any design or work-related issues, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Manager - Mechanical & Electrical, your key responsibilities will include:
- Proactively attending to technical challenges on site by applying robust M&E engineering principles and developing innovative, effective solutions to complex problems.
- Meticulous planning and allocation of resources, with a strong focus on adhering to work programs to ensure projects are completed within stipulated timelines.
- Fostering close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including civil and structural staff, to ensure coordinated efforts on interfacing activities and minimize project disruptions.
- Maintaining open and regular communication channels with superiors, consultants, clients, and subcontractors to provide timely updates and escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Participating in tender exercises by ensuring tender specifications compliance, preparation of quantity take-offs, sourcing competitive quotations, and support in evaluating contractor work programs.
- Preparing comprehensive weekly and monthly progress reports that encapsulate project milestones, resource utilisation, risk management, and quality assurance measures.
- Ensuring adherence to company policies related to Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental standards at all times, actively promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within project sites.
- Attending and contributing to meetings as required, offering insights and feedback to aid decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Performing any additional duties or projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to organisational goals.
Qualifications
We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines relevant to M&E construction and project management.
- A solid understanding of engineering principles, standards, and regulatory requirements pertinent to mechanical and electrical systems in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with tender documentation, contract administration, and project lifecycle processes.
- Formal training or certification in health and safety management or quality assurance will be an advantage.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast with industry best practices and technological advancements.
Skills & Abilities

- Extensive hands-on experience in construction and management of Mechanical & Electrical works, including instrumentation and SCADA systems.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication and influence with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and construction site personnel.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate complex interfacing works while maintaining a collaborative and solution-focused approach.
- Competence in preparing technical and progress reports, as well as managing documentation related to project delivery and compliance.
- Proficient problem-solving skills to anticipate potential challenges and deliver timely resolutions on site.
- Familiarity with project management software and digital tools commonly used in M&E engineering projects is desirable.

Expected Minimum Years of Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in the field of Mechanical and Electrical engineering within the construction or engineering services industries. Demonstrated experience should include project site management, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and a proven track record of successfully delivering M&E works as per scope, quality, and schedule requirements. Candidates with progressive responsibility in managing teams and interfacing with clients and consultants will be highly regarded.
