About the role
DT Infrastructure is seeking an experience Planner to join our team on the High-Capacity Signalling Project based in Perth. The project includes the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the new Automatic Train Control System to replace the existing signalling and train control systems in Perth.
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will play a key role in driving project controls and planning compliance across the HCS Alliance. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and integrating high-quality construction programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, ensuring project schedules are robust, accurate, and aligned with delivery requirements. Working closely with project teams, you will ensure planning activities comply with SafeWork WA regulations, rail corridor possession methodologies, and the broader project vision, supporting the safe and successful delivery of major rail infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated project schedules in accordance with DTI planning standards, ensuring alignment with construction methodologies, project requirements, and delivery milestones.
- Support the Planning Manager in driving planning excellence across the HCS Alliance, including programme development, schedule analysis, stakeholder engagement, and planning-related administration.
- Prepare and maintain planning outputs such as staging diagrams, time chainage diagrams, resource forecasts, progress updates, and programme change records to support effective project delivery and decision-making.
- Monitor project performance through schedule analysis, planned versus actual progress, Earned Value Management (EVM), milestone tracking, and dashboard reporting, identifying risks, delays, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, engineers, subcontractors, and alliance partners to validate work sequences, challenge programme assumptions, optimise construction planning, and ensure accurate project controls.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement by upholding HCS Alliance values, promoting Zero Harm principles, maintaining compliance with project requirements, and supporting the delivery of accurate and timely project reporting.
Experience and capabilities
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, coupled with 3-6 years' experience in planning and scheduling within civil construction, rail infrastructure, or major alliance projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, including programme development, baselining, critical path analysis, schedule health checks, and construction programme optimisation.
- Strong understanding of rail infrastructure delivery across civil, track, signalling, and overhead line electrification (OLE), with knowledge of rail corridor access and possession methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience using reporting and project controls tools, including Excel, Power BI, Earned Value Management (EVM), progress measurement, delay analysis, and extension of time (EOT) support.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, staging plans, temporary works sequences, and construction methodologies to develop accurate and deliverable project schedules.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors, clients, and alliance partners.
