About the role
We are seeking a commercially astute HR/IR Manager to join the METRONET High Capacity Signalling Alliance (HCSA), a major infrastructure project to upgrade Perth's rail network with a modern Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system which will allow trains to run closer together safely, boosting network capacity and increasing frequency.
As the HR/IR Manager, you will play a central leadership role in shaping workforce strategy, culture, and industrial outcomes across this complex, multi-partner alliance. You will provide strategic and operational HR/IR guidance across a large, dynamic project environment, aligning people initiatives with delivery objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the HR and Industrial Relations strategy for the Alliance, aligned with project delivery goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Alliance Management Team and senior leaders.
- Drive a high-performance culture across a multi-disciplinary workforce.
- Provide expert guidance on workforce planning, talent management, and organisational design.
- Oversee employee relations matters, ensuring consistent and compliant outcomes.
- Partner with Alliance stakeholders to ensure alignment across multiple organisations.
- Champion safety, inclusion, and engagement initiatives across the project.
Experience and capabilities
- Proven experience as an HR Manager within infrastructure or construction projects
- Strong expertise in Industrial Relations, ideally within unionised environments
- Demonstrated experience working on large-scale projects with diverse workforce models
- Exposure to JV or Alliance project environments (highly regarded)
- A strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, IR, Law, or a related discipline
