The Role

 

We have a newly created opportunity to join a high profile Sydney project where you will reporting to the Project Director. The H&S Manager is responsible for providing support, guidance and leadership in the implementation, monitoring and review of DTI Health and Safety, and Injury Management systems to both management, staff and subcontractors, and provides risk management and legal compliance expertise on the project. Previous experience on Building projects with Tower Cranes will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice, support and guidance to Management and project staff to assist in the facilitation provision of relevant information and expertise.
  • Establish and maintain positive and beneficial relationships with key external and internal customers, including regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in providing Senior Management with authoritative advice on corporate and local risks associated H&S performance of the H&S Management System and other strategic and local and technical H&S matters
  • Ensure risks are accurately identified, contained and countermeasures are put in place.
  • Actively seeking ways to improve work efficiency and identify areas where savings can be realised.
  • Assist in measuring costs, efficiencies and performance of products.
  • Plan and conduct internal H&S audits to measure suitability and effectiveness of planned arrangements across all facilities to provide advice, support and monitor safe behaviours.
  • Ensure agreed standards, formats and deliverable timeframes are maintained
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet required timelines and outputs
  • Prepare accurate and timely narrative monthly reports that contain movements and progress

 

About You,

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a HSE practitioner role
  • Degree in health, Safety & Environment, Business or similar discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety management systems, and providing guidance and advice to managers and staff with regard to best practice Health & Safety and Risk Management matters
  • Ability to work under broad direction, exercise initiative and be innovative in the approach to problem solving. 
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessing or similar desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and implement change
  • Quality/Safety Lead Internal Auditor or similar desirable
  • Lead ICAM Incident Investigation or similar desirable
