The Role

We are seeking a Grid Connection Manager to join our Goulburn River Solar Farm Project team and report to the Project Director.
You will be the key technical interface between the project, the network service provider (NSP), the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO),and commissioning teams. You will oversee all activities required to achieve timely, compliant grid connection, from modelling and technical submissions through to energisation and performance testing.

This is a site-based position on a major renewable energy construction project in the Upper Hunter Valley, with a rostered working arrangement (14/7), with accommodation and allowances provided as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead all grid connection activities throughout construction and commissioning.
•    Manage technical submissions to AEMO and the NSP, including R1–R2 submissions, GPS compliance documentation, PSCAD modelling, and performance reports.
•    Coordinate with the OEMs, and commissioning engineers to ensure all testing requirements are met (hold points, R2, GPS compliance testing, NER requirements).
•    Oversee energisation planning, witness testing, and commissioning schedules.
•    Monitor engineering risks related to grid performance, system strength, protection, and stability.
•    Ensure alignment with relevant Australian Standards, NER requirements, and project Grid Connection Agreements.
•    Maintain strong working relationships with AEMO, NSP representatives, and project stakeholders.
•    Provide strategic advice to project leadership on grid‑related risks, milestones, and timelines.

 


About You

You will thrive in a dynamic construction and commissioning environment and enjoy bringing large‑scale renewable energy assets online. The ideal candidate will have:

•    Proven experience delivering grid connection for utility‑scale solar, wind, battery, or hybrid generation projects.
•    Strong understanding of AEMO processes, NER requirements, and GPS frameworks.
•    Technical capability in power systems, grid modelling, protection, and commissioning processes.
•    Confident stakeholder management with regulators, NSPs, consultants, and EPCs.
•    Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges under time pressure.
•    Relevant tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering, power systems, or similar.
