The Role
Due to growth and continued success we have a new opportunity for an experienced Environmental Manager to join the DTI team. Reporting to the NSW Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring consistent environmental performance across Bids as well as providing support to projects. This position will require travel to sites in both metropolitan and regional NSW.
- Development, review, and implementation of project’s emergency management functions including planning, preparation and response
- Delivery of projects environmental services, including roadside vegetation management, and natural resource management of project managed land
- Effective delivery of project waste management program and general local law
- Review and implementation of relevant plans and procedures, and provide technical advice on a range of emergency services, sustainable development and environmental matters
- Ensure quality strategic and statutory planning advice and policy development
- Implementation of quality building and planning control functions and responsibilities
- Ensuing that the CEMP is effectively established, implemented, and maintained
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutes, regulations, rules, procedures, standards and policies
- Provide specialist environmental advice to all functional managers, particularly Design, Procurement, Commercial and Construction, to ensure environmental obligations are integrated across all Project delivery functions
- Conduct ongoing risk management and hazard identification processes
- When required manage specialist consultants to ensure all contract requirements are met
- Coordinate accident/incident investigations and produce environmental bulletins and alerts
- Monitoring of environmental aspects incl soil, water, noise etc
- Conduct inspection and assurance processes
- Develop strategic alliances with suppliers and subcontractors
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in the fields of environmental engineering, environmental science, statutory or strategic planning, environmental management or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role (8 + years in infrastructure construction preferred)
- Innovative, Motivated and self-driven
- Ability to influence project management teams and senior management
- Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (preferred but not essential)
- Able to evaluate information quickly, identifying key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience and common sense
- Able to work in both the Sydney metropolitan area as well as regional locations to support projects when required
- Team focused, leads from the front with a can do attitude
