The Role

 

Due to an internal promotion we are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Construction Manager to join the delivery team on the Goulburn River Solar Project. This is a Site-based position (DIDO) on a major renewable energy construction project with a rostered working arrangement (14/7), with accommodation and allowances provided as applicable.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of the electrical construction package. This includes managing all associated site activities, subcontractors, engineering interfaces, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role provides leadership to the site team, fosters collaborative relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders, and ensures compliance with statutory, contractual, and company requirements.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Manage all electrical construction works in accordance with project schedules, budget forecasts, and design requirements.
• Oversee day-to-day site delivery, including installation of HV/LV systems, switchgear, substations, instrumentation, controls, and commissioning support.
• Ensure effective coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction teams to achieve seamless delivery.
• Monitor progress against program milestones and implement recovery strategies where required.
• Collaborate with the project management team to identify key project requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate and communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
• Monitor and control project costs, ensuring that the project stays within budget.
• Support the commercial team in forecasting costs, monitoring cash flow, and managing claims.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering within the electrical package.

 

About You

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• It is preferable for this position to have completed First Aid Training.
• Proven experience with HV/LV distribution, substations, protection systems, instrumentation, and controls.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety legislation, Australian Standards, and WHS requirements.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on renewable energy projects or solar farm construction on utility scale projects over ~100Mw
• Strong experience in developing renewal methodology.
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, solar panel installation, and renewable energy systems.
