The Role
We are seeking a Commissioning Engineeer to join our Goulburn River Solar Farm Project team.
In this position you will support the delivery of all commissioning activities for a utility-scale solar farm and responsible for planning, testing, and verifying the performance of electrical and control systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation.
Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, construction teams, and equipment vendors, the Commissioning Engineer will contribute to the seamless transition of the project from construction into operation.
This is a site-based position on a major renewable energy construction project in the Upper Hunter Valley, with a rostered working arrangement (14/7), with accommodation and allowances provided as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in developing and implementing commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
• Carry out testing, calibration, and functional checks on solar PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and SCADA/control systems.
• Support HV/LV electrical testing and performance verification in line with technical specifications and grid compliance requirements.
• Prepare, review, and complete inspection and test plans (ITPs), checklists, and commissioning records.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving commissioning-related issues with contractors, vendors, and engineering teams.
• Monitor commissioning progress against program schedules and report status to the Commissioning Manager.
• Ensure all commissioning activities are performed in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in grid connection, energisation, and performance testing activities with the network operator.
• Provide technical input into as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and handover packages.
About You
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or similar
• Demonstrated experience as a Commissioning Engineer on major infrastructure, renewable energy, or heavy industrial projects.
• Proven successful Project Management experience.
• Prior programming and planning experience.
• Computer literate in programs including Expert, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-developed planning and programming skills.
• Financial analysis and management skills.
• Risk analysis skills.
