The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process across all phases - from early engagement and tendering through to project delivery. You will be the subject matter expert for all things rail systems and signalling design, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation are embedded in every stage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • Oversee and document the full design lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards and project goals.
  • Champion safety, constructability, and cost-efficiency in all design activities.
  • Lead technical reviews and provide strategic input to improve design outcomes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for design innovation and process improvement.
  • Deliver clear, concise progress updates to senior leadership and clients.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in rails systems design and design management on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of safety and risk management principles in design.
