DT Infrastructure is a trusted provider of engineering and construction solutions that unlock opportunities for our clients, communities and people. Specialising in Transport, Renewables, Defence and Utilities, we offer a unique synergy of local expertise in complex projects and the global perspective of our multinational parent company, Gamuda Berhad. Through engineering innovation, collaborative contracting and leading sustainability practices we’re unlocking opportunities for a better tomorrow.
We have a NEW opportunity for a highly formidable and commercially astute Contract Manager to join our team delivering a landmark solar farm construction project in regional New South Wales. Reporting directly to the Project Commercial Manager, you will be the commercial cornerstone of this major renewable energy initiative.
This role is highly focused on upstream contractual arrangements, requiring an expert who can navigate complex head contract obligations, protect project margins, and foster a productive, transparent relationship with the principal client. As this project is located in regional NSW, you will be expected to travel to the site on a regular basis, integrating with the delivery team and directly managing on-the-ground commercial realities.
Key Responsibilities
- Head Contract Management: Take full ownership of the upstream contractual relationship, ensuring strict compliance with all head contract obligations, deliverables, and notice requirements.
- Commercial Strategy: Work in lockstep with the Project Commercial Manager to develop and execute commercial strategies that mitigate risk, maximize entitlements, and optimize overall project profitability.
- Variations & Claims: Lead the identification, preparation, negotiation, and finalization of upstream variations, extension of time (EOT) requests, and commercial claims.
- Client Interfacing: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for the client/principal, fostering a collaborative yet firm relationship built on contract fidelity and mutual respect.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Continuously analyze the contract to identify commercial risks and strategic opportunities, proactively advising the Project Director and delivery teams.
- Commercial Reporting: Deliver precise, timely, and highly detailed upstream commercial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for executive review.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage early-stage dispute avoidance and resolution mechanisms, keeping matters de-escalated where possible while rigorously protecting the business’s commercial position.
About You
- Proven Expertise: You possess a highly extensive background as a Contract Manager or Senior Commercial Manager within tier-one or tier-two heavy civil, infrastructure, or renewable energy construction.
- Upstream Specialist: You have a demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex head contracts on major projects, with a specific focus on client-side commercial negotiation.
- Renewables Experience: Prior experience on large-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects is highly advantageous.
- Strategic & Analytical: You possess exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate dense contractual clauses into actionable, everyday guidance for the site team.
- Resilient Communicator: You are comfortable holding your ground in high-stakes commercial negotiations and possess the emotional intelligence to maintain positive client relationships.
- Flexibility & Mobility: You have a high degree of flexibility and a genuine willingness to travel regularly to regional NSW to support the site-based execution teams.
