About the role
DTI are hiring a Senior Planner to support with operational and pre-contracts deliverables across a multi-regional portfolio. Reporting to the National Planning function, this is an exciting opportunity to influence front‑end project strategy, collaborate with experts across the business, and contribute to securing projects that make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal effectively and appropriately with subcontractors and estimating team members to obtain “best for project” schedules and plans.
- Review subcontractors' construction programmes and other 3rd Party programmes against the master Project Programmes and assess their impacts.
- Create a realistic project schedule for each job, conversant with project complexity and client requirements. Identify schedule related risks and opportunities in the process. Review with Bid Manager and / or Estimating Manager prior to submission.
- After award, convert estimate plans and schedules to Approved for Construction status by working along with Project Managers and Area Managers. Identify schedule related risks and opportunities in the process.
- To monitor and provide Project and Construction Management with summary, forecast and exception reporting for the effective execution of the Project.
- To assess the effects of deviations from the project programme at the earliest possible time, for evaluation and action by Project and Construction Management.
- Maintain a master resources histogram detailing all regional projects, and identifying by trade resource requirements, along with allocation of specific project staff.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in a similar role within the Tier 1 construction industry, preferably with experience within rail / roads infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in use of Primavera P6 project management and scheduling software to meet planning requirements.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- High level of computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Power BI.
- Initiative, motivated & self-driven with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Team focused and a multitasker for a dynamic planning environment.
- Able to evaluate information quickly, identifying key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience and common sense.
- You must be based in Australia and have relevant working rights to be considered for this position.
