Key Responsibilities

 

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the design and verification of systems and processes in accordance with project specifications and direction from the Design Manager. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor and support our graduates and other team members in their career development, making it an exciting and rewarding position within a fantastic team

 

  • Design/verification and selection of equipment to suit the contract requirements.
  • Develop cost-effective and practical engineering designs that meet project specifications.
  • Review and resolve queries with both the client and the Verification Engineer regarding designs.
  • Attend design and Safety in Design reviews as requested by the Design Manager/Design Lead.
  • Prepare engineering documentation (design reports, configuration specifications, test plans, etc.) as directed by the Design Manager/Design Lead.
  • Undertake on and off site testing tasks such as PoC/FAT/FIT/SAT/SIT.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree.
  • Be a member of, or eligible to be a member of Engineers Australia.
  • Networking certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
  • In-depth understanding of VLANs, RSTP, VRRP, OSPF, IPsec VPN, firewall.
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and managing network devices (RUGGEDCOM, Westermo, Aruba, Cisco, and Fortinet).
  • Communications and Control Systems SoC (Statement of Competency) level 2 desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience in the Rail Systems or Communications Design environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to review and develop new processes and streamline design activities.
  • Experience in developing tender documentation desirable.
