The Senior Engineer is responsible for the design and verification of systems and processes in accordance with project specifications and direction from the Design Manager. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor and support our graduates and other team members in their career development, making it an exciting and rewarding position within a fantastic team.
Key Responsibilities
Design/verification and selection of equipment to suit the contract requirements
Generate the contract Bill of Material (BoM)
Develop cost-effective and practical engineering designs that meet project specifications
Prepare, register and revise all company related inspection and test documents
Prepare manufacturing and site instructions
Review and resolve queries with both the client and the Verification Engineer regarding designs
Attend design reviews as requested by the Design Manager / Design Lead
Solve problems using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques or methods proposed by the Design Manager
Perform professional engineering work involving considerable independence in approach and demanding a considerable degree of originality, ingenuity and judgement
Prepare engineering documentation as directed by the Design Manager / Design Lead
Responsible for the design in accordance with the direction of Design Manager / Design Lead
Prepare correspondence as directed by the Design Manager / Lead
Undertake site testing tasks (Validation) commensurate with experience and allocated authority.
Correctly use all tools, equipment, material, personal protective equipment and follow work procedures
Act in the role of Lead Tester during testing & commissioning when not involved in the design.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering Degree
Be a member of, or eligible to be a member of Engineers Australia
Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience in the Rail Systems or Communications Design environment
Demonstrable and successful experience in a business/project operations management role gained at a similar level
Demonstrated ability in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to review and develop new processes and streamline transactional activities
Experience in researching and understanding complex information to develop and implement project solutions
Working knowledge and understanding of OH&S and employee relations legislation
Experience in developing tender documentation desirable
