With a proved track record in delivering innovative and complex infrastructure projects in Australia and internationally, Gamuda’s strategy is to invest in, develop and construct large-scale renewable energy projects with a focus on wind, solar and BESS developments and EPC projects.
We are currently mobilising our team to delivery one of Victoria’s most significant renewable energy projects in southwest Victoria, an integrated 450 MW solar and 600 MW BESS hybrid project.
The role
Working closely with our construction delivery team you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Health & Safety systems and practices for the project promoting safety awareness and a strong safety culture. This will include:
• Formulating strategies to develop and enhance a culture of H&S excellence on the project through establishment of robust systems, monitoring mechanism, education and training.
• Identification of any shortcomings in project H&S performance and work with the project team to develop and implement improvement initiatives.
• Investigate and report on incidents and near misses, identify corrective actions and make recommendations for prevention and improvements.
• Plan and conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with the H&S management system, contractual, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
• Develop and deliver H&S training to project staff in accordance with project risks and requirements.
• Develop a strong working relationship with all levels of project team, client, and local authorities.
The role will be based on-site in western Victoria on a regular 5:2 roster. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.
Your skills and experience
You will be an experienced project Safety Leader with a collaborative approach to safety culture and performance ideally possessing tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety. Specific skills and experience will include:
• A strong understanding of current health and safety legislation, procedures, processes and H&S best practice.
• Well-developed people management skills that encourage staff to perform at optimum levels without compromising on standards.
• Understanding of the challenges of working across large sites with significant earthworks, piling and electrical scopes.
