We are seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join our team, based in our Melbourne office. This role will provide timely, practical, and commercially focused legal advice to support DT Infrastructure’s business units and corporate functions nationally, with a strong emphasis on construction and infrastructure.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, project managers, commercial teams, and engineers to support projects from tender through to delivery, while ensuring compliance and managing risk across a dynamic portfolio of work
Key responsibilities
- Provide practical legal support and advice on a range of construction and infrastructure matters, including tenders, procurement, and delivery for D&C, EPC, ITC, Alliance, PPP, and JV agreements.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts (including subcontracts, procurement agreements, and consultancy arrangements).
- Assist with contract administration, variations, and claims management.
- Support dispute resolution processes, including adjudication, mediation, and litigation as required.
- Contribute to governance, compliance, and policy development.
- Undertake legal research and provide guidance to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project and corporate teams to align legal advice with business objectives.
About you
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (or equivalent) and current practising certificate.
- Early-career lawyer with 2–4 years’ post-admission experience (law firm or in-house), ideally with exposure to major infrastructure projects including transport and civil infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with developing expertise in risk management and compliance.
- Experience supporting dispute resolution processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player, eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
