About the role

 

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance/Electrical Fitter to join our Plant Maintenance team working on the maintenance of specialised rail plant and equipment on a fulltime permanent basis. 

  

This role is predominately Monday-Friday based at our workshop in Maddingley VIC, some travel required to service repairs in the field (working away allowances). 

Key Responsibilities include

 

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on a variety of specialised mobile rail plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and safety of all equipment. 
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities. 
  • Utilise technical manuals and ability to read schematics to repair and maintain equipment. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of projects. 
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, maintaining a safe working environment. 
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities. 

Experience and capabilities

 

  • Knowledge and operational methods of Tampers, Ballast Regulators and Flashbutt Welders (preferred but not essential). 
  • Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic/Fitter/Electrical or equivalent (essential). 
  • Current MR Licence (preferred but not essential). 
  • Current Forklift Licence (preferred but not essential). 
  • Experience working on heavy mobile equipment, trucks and diesel engines. 
  • Basic electrical/hydraulic knowledge. 
  • Strong fault-finding skills and break down support. 
  • A good attitude and strong ‘team player’ with the proven ability to work efficiently with others.
  • Able to work unsupervised and away from home.
