Job Summary
The Building Technician is responsible for carrying out day-to-day maintenance and repair works on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systems within the shopping mall. The role ensures that all systems operate efficiently and safely, contributing to a comfortable and functional environment for shoppers, tenants, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform variety of maintenance and electrical functions for the efficient and smooth operation of all M & E system as well as to ensure that all systems and equipment within the mall are in good condition.
- Attend to tenants’ requests, feedback or complaints on M & E related matters, e.g. electrical trip, breakdown, etc. Perform hands-on troubleshooting or repair jobs based on the requests or complaints and in accordance with the standard operations procedures.
- Attend to tenants’ requests, feedback or complaints on building related matters, e.g. leaks, cracking, damp, clogged drain, etc. Perform hands-on troubleshooting or repair jobs based on the requests or complaints and in accordance with the standard operations procedures.
- Carry out routine and preventive maintenance for office tools, machines and equipment. Attend and solve day-to-day activities on company’s tools and equipment.
- Perform systematic serving of equipment and carry out minor repairs or trouble-shooting works if so required. Monitor term contractors in their routine servicing.
- Support set-up and technical requirements for mall events or promotions.
- Provide support in the Car Park operations.
- Follow safety procedures and work in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.
- Assist in emergency response and crisis management as required.
- Experience working in a shopping mall environment & possession of an A4 Chargeman Certificate is an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, and fire-fighting systems.
- Ability to read simple technical drawings and user manuals.
- Hands-on skills in troubleshooting and repair works.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willing to work on shifts, weekends, or during public holidays as required.
Skills & Abilities
- Familiar with BMS or daily checklist systems.
- Experience in high-traffic commercial environments such as malls, hotels, or hospitals.
- Able to operate basic measurement and diagnostic tools (multimeter, clamp meter, etc.).
Expected Minimum Years of Experience
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in building maintenance, preferably in commercial or retail property.
