About the role
As a Health and Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance and leadership in the implementation, monitoring, and review of our Health and Safety, Environment, and Injury Management systems across the High Capacity Signalling business unit
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice, support and guidance to Management and staff to assist in the facilitation provision of relevant information and expertise, to facilitate health, safety and environmental.
- Assist in providing Senior Management with authoritative advice on corporate and local risks associated Zero Harm performance of the HSE Management System and other strategic and local and technical HSE matters
- Provide advice to departments and Facilities in regards to health, safety and environmental management system matters, including support on tender and bid documents
- Ensure risks are accurately identified, contained and countermeasures are put in place
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans and policies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and conduct internal HSE audits to measure suitability and effectiveness of planned arrangements across all facilities to provide advice, support and monitor safe behaviours.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training and education to employees on health and safety matters, including emergency procedures.
- Manage and maintain health and safety records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a positive health and safety culture.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary or Diploma qualifications in Workplace Health Safety
- ICAM Investigator qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years if experience in a similar role within the Tier 1 construction industry, preferably with experience dealing with WA resource clients.
- Strong knowledge of Work Health & Safety, Environmental or Rail Safety legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety management systems, and providing guidance and advice to managers and staff with regard to best practice Health Safety & Environment matters.
- Able to evaluate information quickly, identifying key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience and common sense
