About the role
As the Cost Controller you will support the effective management, monitoring and reporting of project costs across renewable energy developments. Working closely with Development, Finance and Procurement, you will maintain accurate project cost data, maintain WBS structures and manage forecasts, providing clear cost reporting to support informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain and update project forecasts, including actuals, commitments and forecast-to-complete, ensuring costs are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets, identify variances and provide clear reporting and commentary.
- Establish and maintain WBS structures in SAP Project Systems, including budget management, cost allocations and reporting.
- Run SAP PS reports, including CJI3, to extract, validate and reconcile project cost data.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, budget updates and cost forecast submissions for project teams, senior leadership and JV stakeholders.
- Work closely with Finance, Procurement and Development teams to resolve cost coding issues, reconcile commitments and maintain accurate project cost information.
- Maintain project purchase order and commitments registers, including tracking approvals, contract milestones and invoices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across project cost control, reporting and SAP processes.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, registers and records, ensuring appropriate version control and document management.
- Coordinate governance meetings, including agendas, minutes, action tracking and follow-up of outstanding items.
Skills and experience:
- Relevant qualification in Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- 3 - 6 years’ experience in project cost control, project accounting or a related project finance role.
- Demonstrated experience using SAP, particularly SAP Project Systems (PS), including WBS structures, CJI3 reporting and budget management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with strong analytical, reporting and data interpretation capability.
- Strong understanding of project cost control principles, including actuals, commitments, forecasting, budgets and total expected cost.
- Experience working across infrastructure, energy or construction projects, with high attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve data integrity issues.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams
