Job Title:  Commercial Manager
Posting Start Date:  13/08/2026
Job Description:

Gamuda is a global engineering and construction leader specialising in the design, delivery, and maintenance of large-scale transport, civil, and energy infrastructure across nine countries.

In Australia, our footprint is expanding rapidly through two major packages for Sydney Metro—the Western Tunnelling Package and the Stations Package West—alongside significant joint-venture projects such as the $1.35B Coffs Harbour Bypass and the $1B M1 Motorway Extension Southern Package.

With a strong pipeline of shortlisted projects and new opportunities in the transport and energy sectors, we are dedicated to growing our local presence. As we expand, we remain focused on attracting world-class talent and fostering an innovative culture that positions Gamuda as an employer of choice in the Australian infrastructure industry.

About the role

As the Commercial Manager, you will shape the commercial direction of major renewable energy projects from the earliest stages. You will lead commercial strategy, market engagement, and tender development to ensure projects are commercially sound, competitive, and positioned for success.

You will oversee all front-end commercial activities - identifying risks early, shaping contract strategies, guiding negotiations, and ensuring all bids and agreements reflect the unique commercial, regulatory, and technical requirements of the Australian renewables market.

Specific activities will include:

  • Lead the preparation and submission of pre-contract documents, bids, pricing strategies, and draft agreements for large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Analyse EOI, RFQ and RFT packages, including technical and grid-related requirements, to identify risks, opportunities, and compliance considerations.
  • Drive upstream negotiations for head contracts, early works agreements, consultancy contracts, and major equipment supply packages to secure balanced and commercially robust outcomes.
  • Provide proactive commercial advice to executive and project leaders.
  • Oversee early procurement and supplier engagement, including selection, negotiation, and contract development for critical project packages.
  • Mentor precontracts and commercial team members and promote best practice in early-phase commercial management.
  • Support the improvement of commercial frameworks, processes, and governance to strengthen risk management and competitive positioning.

Your skills and experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in commercial or contract management, with strong exposure to precontracts, tendering, or early-stage project development.
  •  Solid understanding of commercial frameworks for renewable energy or major infrastructure projects, including relevant Australian standards and contracting models.
  •  Proven capability in developing commercial strategies, pricing structures, and risk mitigation plans for complex bids.
  •  Experience in Joint Venture or partnership environments (highly regarded).
  •  Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Highly organised, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
