About the role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the commercial strategy and delivery of a portfolio of renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and BESS. This role will focus on maximising project value across the full lifecycle, from early stage development through to delivery, while ensuring strong commercial governance, procurement strategy and risk management. You will work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes and support the successful delivery of Gamuda’s renewable energy portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial strategy across a portfolio of renewable energy development projects.
- Provide commercial input into investment decisions, feasibility studies and project business cases.
- Oversee project financial performance including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Lead end-to-end procurement processes including tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
- Structure and negotiate key commercial agreements including EPC, O&M, PPA, supply and partnership contracts.
- Identify and manage commercial risks across all phases of project development and delivery.
- Manage complex commercial issues, claims and disputes in collaboration with legal and project teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, contractors, suppliers, partners and government stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team while fostering collaboration across development, engineering, legal and finance functions.
Skills & Experience
- 12+ years’ experience in senior commercial roles within renewable energy, infrastructure or major projects.
- Strong understanding of the renewable energy development lifecycle, particularly wind, solar and BESS projects.
- Proven experience negotiating complex, high-value contracts including EPC, O&M, supply and PPA agreements.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret project financial models.
- Demonstrated leadership experience building and developing high-performing commercial teams.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills, with experience working across government and industry.
