Gamuda Engineering is a reputable Engineering and Construction contractor that specialises in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Transport, Civil and Energy Infrastructure projects. We are currently delivering the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package and in joint venture partnerships for both the $1.35B Coffs Harbour Bypass and the $1B M1 Motorway Extension Southern Package.

About the role

As the Commercial Business Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Commercial by driving operational excellence, governance, and strategic business initiatives across the Commercial Division. Acting as a trusted business partner, you will lead business planning, reporting, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives while embedding consistent frameworks, processes, and operating rhythms that enable a high-performing commercial function.

Specific activities will include:

  • Leading business planning, governance, budgeting, reporting, and resource planning activities.
  • Developing and implementing consistent commercial frameworks, processes, templates, and governance systems to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Analysing commercial and project performance data to provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Managing executive reporting, corporate governance requirements, and cross-functional business initiatives.
  • Monitoring emerging commercial risks and issues, providing proactive solutions and recommendations.
  • Supporting contract administration activities during peak periods, including variations, claims, commercial reporting, and correspondence.
  • Building strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of commercial objectives.
  • Supporting the development of a high-performance culture through collaboration, accountability, and commercial excellence.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in business management, commercial operations, executive support, or corporate services within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in business planning, project management, governance, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to develop and improve business systems, governance frameworks, and operational processes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience driving organisational improvement, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
