About the Role
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment. You will be responsible for providing support, guidance and leadership in the implementation, monitoring and review of DTI Health and Safety, Rail Safety and Injury Management systems to both management, staff and subcontractors, and provides risk management and legal compliance expertise
Based in the Pilbara with our North West operations team on a 4:3 (four days on/3 days off) FIFO roster, this position will work collaboratively with the leadership and project delivery teams to ensure compliance to DTI policies/procedures and statutory responsibilities across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure risks are accurately identified, contained and countermeasures are put in place.
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans and policies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and conduct internal HSE audits to measure suitability and effectiveness of planned arrangements across all facilities to provide advice, support and monitor safe behaviours.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training and education to employees on health and safety matters, including emergency procedures.
- Manage and maintain health and safety records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a positive health and safety culture.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the Tier 1 construction industry, preferably with experience dealing with WA resource clients.
- Strong knowledge of Work Health & Safety, Environmental or Rail Safety legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing health and safety management systems, and providing guidance and advice to managers and staff with regard to best practice Health Safety & Environment matters.
- Able to evaluate information quickly, identifying key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience and common sense.
- Ability to work under broad direction, exercise initiative and be innovative in the approach to problem solving
