Job Summary
The Chainman is responsible for assisting surveyors in field measurements, data collection, and survey operations. This role involves handling survey equipment, taking measurements, and maintaining accurate records of survey data. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a survey team while ensuring precise measurements and data collection.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist surveyors in field measurements and data collection
• Handle and maintain survey equipment
• Take accurate measurements using chains, tapes, and other tools
• Mark survey points and boundaries
• Record survey measurements and data
• Clear survey lines and paths as needed
• Set up and position survey equipment
• Maintain field notes and sketches
• Assist in GPS data collection
• Transport survey equipment to field locations
• Follow safety procedures during field work
• Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs
• Assist in basic calculations and measurements
• Maintain survey markers and stakes
• Help identify property boundaries

Qualifications
