Job Description: 

Job Summary

Definition of Electrical for the Job includes electrical related provisions for temporary and permanent functionality of the project not limited to telecommunications, electronics and controls such as electronic access control system, building management system and supervisory control and data acquisition system. Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design review for electrical building services and external infrastructure but not limited to LRT/MRT stations, pumping stations, data centres and any other infrastructures. Understanding of power distribution systems, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications and other documents required to complete the projects. Review and management of project from inception to post construction.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and coordinate the implementation of electrical engineering design and construction activities ensuring alignment with project specifications and stakeholder expectations.
  2. Plan, organize, and supervise comprehensive electrical design review processes including liaising with electrical design consultants to verify all deliverables meet stringent quality, cost, and regulatory standards.
  3. Coordinate with regulatory authorities for submissions, inspections, and successful completion certifications pertinent to electrical infrastructure components.
  4. Participate actively in site meetings, factory inspections, and acceptance testing to resolve design and construction challenges while ensuring technical compliance and quality assurance.
  5. Oversee the preparation and submission of Operation and Maintenance Manuals, guaranteeing user-friendly and thorough documentation for project handover.
  6. Manage construction site supervision workflows, including the review and approval of shop drawings, materials submissions, As-Built drawings, and technical queries to ensure conformity with approved designs and regulation.
  7. Foster collaborative relationships with electrical engineering supervision consultants and contractors to maintain seamless communication and project execution efficiency.
  8. Lead technical problem-solving by addressing significant electrical design and site-related issues during design meetings and site progress sessions.
  9. Prepare technical reports, present findings, and engage with diverse project stakeholders to communicate project status, risks, and mitigations effectively.
  10. Ensure adherence to company quality assurance and control procedures throughout the project lifecycle, promoting continuous improvement and stakeholder satisfaction.
  11. Contribute as a core member of the technical team in major projects, supporting design development, evaluations, and execution strategies aligned with industry best practices and client requirements.
  12. Conduct site visits and quality audits to validate compliance and support continuous enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Professional certification or licensure in electrical engineering is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure project requirements, especially within rail transit projects, including relevant statutory and safety regulations.
  • Proven capability to lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams within large-scale, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with regulatory authorities and navigating compliance frameworks effectively.
  • Strong proficiency in preparing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation, technical specifications, and design calculations relevant to electrical building services.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, maintaining current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry standards in electrical engineering.

Skills & Abilities

  • Highly skilled in Electrical CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools including AutoCAD and Revit, with the ability to develop and review complex electrical designs.
  • Deep understanding of electrical system components, such as low voltage power distribution, lighting systems, generator sets, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electronic Access Control (EAC) systems.
  • Proficient in interpreting and preparing technical drawings, schematics, and specifications with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct power distribution calculations, system performance analysis, and troubleshooting related to electrical design and site installation.
  • Excellent project management and organizational capabilities to oversee and coordinate multiple facets of electrical engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration among consultants, contractors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Capable of performing rigorous quality assurance and control checks to ensure deliverables meet high standards of safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Resilience and adaptability in managing complex project challenges under tight deadlines.

Expected Minimum Years of Experience

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design engineering, emphasizing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years dedicated experience within rail transit systems such as Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) networks, demonstrating specialized expertise in this sector.
  • Proven leadership history managing design teams and delivering successful electrical engineering outcomes on major rail projects.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments, showcasing the ability to navigate complex project dynamics effectively.
